SOLUTION
Created an interactive web application for on-demand processing of remote sensing data from the Hyperspectral Imager for the Coastal Ocean (HICO) on the International Space Station.
The HICO Image Processing System used a combination of commercial and open-source software layers deployed in the cloud to deliver advanced hyperspectral analysis techniques to the global user community. Analysis focused on output products related to water quality, bathymetry and other coastal environmental characteristics, with results dynamically generated and displayed on-demand per user request.
Developed before widespread deployment of cloud-based processing of Earth Observation data became commonplace, the HICO Image Processing System is considered an innovative trailblazer for the rapidly growing field of large-scale remote sensing data analysis.
